Hot Tips, Cool Resources

April 2019

Hey fulfilment seekers,

It's the end of the month and so it's time for some Hot Tips & Cool Resources...but first...

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

I hope your Easter was choc full of love, adventure and good times.

It's always great to hang out with friends, and on the long weekend, I was blessed to have a friend come stay overnight. We met a few years back through our shared passion for growing food.

I didn't realise until she arrived, but she was coming to stay with the specific intention of helping me set up my garden for the winter vegetable growing season.

Many of you know that I retired from work with some serious health issues back in 2011. In the hopes of getting my health back, I gave up almost everything to live very simply and help grow veggies on a big organic farm.

Thankfully, my plan worked, my body recovered, and I'm back to doing the work I was put here to do...

Of course, my love of growing food and living simply is just as strong as it was when I left the farm in 2013. However, with my focus on setting up my coaching practice, maintaining my veggie patch has felt a bit overwhelming.

So it was quite magical when, in just a few hours, my gardening buddy helped me weed my overgrown veggie beds, reinvigorate them with compost and manure, select a variety of seedlings, and then get everything planted out in the garden.

So I'm dedicating this newsletter to my mate, who helped me transform my weed patch, and reunited me with my passion for growing food at home - and right now, my soul feels deeply nourished by connection and compost.

MY HOT TIPS

Did you know that people are more afraid of failure than they are of ghosts? Or that fear of failure is the number 1 reason people don’t try new things or set new goals. A report from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor found that globally fear of failure would prevent between 30% and 60% of people from setting up a new business.

For this reason, fear of failure, also known as atychiphobia, can have a big impact on your personal or business life ambitions.

Given the event of failure is an inevitable part of being alive, and so many people struggle with it.  And since I am deeply committed to your success, fulfilment and happiness, I decided to tackle this topic - a topic that I know only too well - you see, I once was atychiphobic myself.

If fear of failure affects you and has been holding you back, my latest article, 8 Ways To Fail Fabulously, shows you how to overcome your fears, so you can feel totally free to pursue all the things you’ve ever wanted to do.

SOME COOL RESOURCES

Rode NT-USb MicrophoneIf your path to fulfilment is doing what you love and helping others, then podcasting is a great way to build an audience and share your unique message.

An essential for podcasting is a good quality microphone, and the one I recommend is the Rode NT-USB, which has some excellent features.

For example, it plugs straight into your computer via USB cable and can be easily paired with mainstream apps like Garage Band and Audacity. The NT-USB also comes with a small desktop tripod, as well as a pop-filter (to help soften those plosive 'P', 'T' and 'B' sounds). In that way, it's a one box solution, which is very conveniant.

I like that Rode is an Australian company who are well known for great quality products. All up, this microphone, stand and filter will cost you less than $200.

PRODUCT I'M LOVING

d.e.w stands for drink. eat. wear  - and it’s a 100% Australian-owned company who create healthy superfood powders that you can literally eat, drink or put on your skin.

I’m a big fan of supporting Australian businesses, especially when they are working hard to take care of our environment and our health - because, let's be honest, the two are deeply connected, as I found out when I had my farming adventure.

d.e.w. ticks all these boxes, with certified organic and non-GMO ingredients, as well as compostable packaging, and that’s why I am giving them a shout out here. If you care about supporting local, healthy, and eco-friendly products, then these superfood blends will make you feel so very good...

EVENT WORTH ATTENDING

Film Screening - 2040 - Five Star Cinema's, New Farm

If you live in Brisbane or surrounds, then this Saturday, May 4th at 8pm, you can enjoy a Special Advance Screening Q&A Event with director Damon Gameau.

Here's a little about the film:

Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on a journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream. Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board of how these solutions could regenerate the world for future generations.

***Shout out to my friend Amanda Cahill, who's featured in the film and who will be a part of the Q&A event this Saturday

Until next month, remember to take time to do things you love, and spend time with good friends!

Much love

Michelle :)
