Hot Tips, Cool Resources

November 2018

Hi all,

It's the end of the month and so it's time for some Hot Tips & Cool Resources...but first...

PERSONAL NOTE

As we head into the final month of the year, with Christmas and New Years now clearly in sight, I find myself focused on my family, and how we can best support each other through a significant loss.

The experience of grief can be very consuming. The feelings coming and going like waves. And I expect those waves might grow bigger and more powerful as Christmas approaches.

At the moment, it seems the only upside to this situation is how it has brought us more deeply into each others lives, as adult siblings, and with our parents, who are thankfully both alive and well. But that is a pretty big upside!

I know Christmas can bring up stuff for all of us at times, and I truly hope that November has been good to you and that you are looking for and finding many things to be grateful for as we transition into December and the Festive season…!

If you are struggling with the approach of Christmas, please know that you are not alone. It can be a challenging time, and far from festive, depending on what realities we are currently facing.

Still there are always things to be thankful for if we are determined to find them. Life doesn't always go to plan, so you've just gotta keep bringing new plans to life.

And with all that said, my latest blog is focused on how you can get more benefit from your gratitude practice - and if you don't currently practice gratitude, hopefully this will encourage you to start!!

With love

Michelle xx

HOT TIPS

Activating the Power of Gratitude.

It's the season to be grateful and in my latest blog I explain why gratitude is a gift that you should unwrap and enjoy more often.  In a special video component, I also discuss the ability of what I like to call "M.S.G" to power-up your gratitude routine, so you can get maximum benefits from this potent practice... What is M.S.G? Well that would be telling.... ;)

COOL RESOURCES

One of my favourite books to re-read at this time of year is The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. If you don't have a copy, and if you haven't read it, then I'd like to share my copy with you. Read The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran

The book is divided into chapters dealing with love, marriage, children, giving, eating and drinking, work, joy and sorrow, houses, clothes, buying and selling, crime and punishment, laws, freedom, reason and passion, pain, self-knowledge, teaching, friendship, talking, time, good and evil, prayer, pleasure, beauty, religion, and death.

Read it here.

WHO I'M QUOTING

“It is not uncommon for people to spend their whole lives waiting to start living.”

- Eckhart Tolle

BOOK I'M DEVOURING

“Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant To Be.” - Rachel Hollis

This book is a highly authentic, feel-good and practical self-help guide for women, especially for mum’s, and especially for mums in business or leadership.

It’s the authors truthful and funny account of her own challenges as a business woman, a mentor, a mum, a partner, and a social media icon.

Each chapter focuses on a common lie that we tell ourselves, such “I’m not good enough” or ‘I’ll start tomorrow” and through her hilarious and personally revealing stories she takes us deep into the mindset of each lie. Then, at the end of each chapter she shares a few solid and very practical tips for how she dealt with the challenge discussed.

I was not at all familiar with Rachel Hollis until I heard her interviewed by podcaster Lewis Howes, where she proved to be very humble and real.

Several times throughout the book, the author references her ‘faith’ as a Christian, but I certainly wouldn't say that her religious beliefs are a strong theme in the book, and she certainly doesn't shy away from saying it like it is. If the topic appeals to you, then dive in, you'll enjoy it, you'll get some great ideas, and hopefully have a few good laughs along the way.

Until next month, keep bringing new plans to life in your own world!

Michelle :)
