Hot Tips, Cool Resources

March 2019

Hi all,

It's the end of the month and so it's time for some Hot Tips & Cool Resources...but first...

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

I performed a mini-experiment with myself this month. It was accidental, but quite telling. For the first 2 weeks of the month, I completely neglected my usual habit of planning my day. This resulted in me having more moments where I felt lost, aimless, unfocused and unproductive. Overall, in those 2 weeks, I got a lot less done and felt less happy and positive.

For the second half of the month, I returned to my daily planning (20 mins each morning). Immediately, I began to feel more focused and more productive. I was getting things done and ticking off my most important tasks. Moreover, my mood improved and that's because I felt a clear sense of what I was trying to achieve and whether I was progressing towards my goals and fulfilling my purpose. I was surprised just how quickly this shifted both my mood and my energy. The contrast was quite noticeable.

So, are you a planner or not a planner?

Do you plan in the morning, or in the evening for the next day?

How long do you spend on planning each day/week?

What do you use to plan your days, weeks, months?

Write in and share your practices and tips...

HOT TIPS

Interested in dramatically improving your ability to feel inner peace regardless of what's happening in your life, in your business, with your health or relationships?

In my latest blog post, I share my top 4 Strategies for Finding Inner Peace.

COOL RESOURCES

The planner I use to organise my day is the EVO Planner. There are lots of great planners out there. This one has a fun and interesting Brain Quiz - and baed on your results, you get a Planner that's uniquely designed for each of the 4 Brain Types.

Check out the free EVO Brain Type Assessment/Quiz here.

I also have a A3 sized monthly planner, which I picked up from my newsagent, and this I find is great, as it allows me to see the bigger picture of what I am trying to achieve in the upcoming month. I know at a glance my key projects and I can easily see where I will have chunks of time to do deep work on those projects.

WHO I'M QUOTING

The author of the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R. Covey who explained the heart of influencing others so well when he said:

“Show that you really understand where another person or organisation is coming from: What are their goals? What is their point of view? When you truly see the perspective of others, you significantly increase the credibility of your own ideas and opinions."

BOOK I'M DEVOURING

The Power of Now - Eckhart Tolle

A timeless classic on the power of being present to each moment of your life. If you want to read more deeply around the topics I discuss in my blog post, then this would be a brilliant and practical place to begin. It is truly one of the most profound books written, from an individual who has managed to move beyond the madness of the human mind into a permanent state of presence. You don't have to be aiming for spiritual enlightenment to gain immensely from these pages.
